I would have to say that loosing Gabo is a far bigger tragedy than damaging any sort of reputation I might have.About making horns I don’t yet see this obsession as a full time career, and if you ask I just as well would not be able to answer what dr...

Romy,There are a lot of things I am sure you will be very good at. At our age we have maybe one good lifetime project left in us.It has to be an obssession absolutley!

I listened for a few days a nice room with a digital correction done on computer for bass only, to minimize room peaks. It was very easy to do an ON=OFF test I could hear a clear benefit with the filter and no damage to the signal. Quite interesti...

Pretty nice tweeter, probably a little less effcient that the compression driver.Very smooth imho....

Just a quick note.I tired a JBL 3" compression driver 2490h model with original Titanium diaphragms on a 120 hz Tacrix horn. I got a response down to 200 hz. How did it sound? It sounded good clear and transparent but it lacked a little tone imho...

Hello Dan,Love how you pass that cable through the port, I used to do that too...long time ago.Why are you crossing your 250hz horn all the way up to 1 khz?The 2445 should be able to go much lower. Have you measured the response you are getting from...

My deep condolences Romy, I am sure she left you in good hands. All the bestJorge...

I used to have a rack where sand was placed inside the structure of the rack (square pipe) and then I would insert a rugged construction rod inside it so it would be "suspended" by friction inside the sand. It didnt work, there was no advantag...

For some reason I cannot post pics, they wont upload to the server so I cant select them. The way Aurios work is with 3 ball bearings rolling inside a round chanel, something like an inverted doughnut...top and bottom. On the center they have a bol...
|
I will get some pics for you in the afternoon, I put another bearing on a hole they have and that is what supperts the equipment on top.The sound becomes airy and transparent, but looses dynamics and tone.http://drforsell.com/home.htm...

I had been using Aurios roller bearings under my Cd transport for a long time, Every time I changed a transport I would immediately put them under, and they always helped: Untill I got the Forsell transport. When I first brought it into my listening...

IMHO the less you touch, scratch, brush the grooves the better....

Well the thing is that the returning wave from the back side of the driver, does return in phase, but "later" than the front wave, logically. This should add some distortion that I have not noticed, but of course and worried for as much as I am worr...

Skushino. Yes TH is designed to play 2 octaves and no more, this derives from the design which actually uses a labrynth, in the shape of a horn, to return (and amplify) the back wave of the driver to the front and add its strenght to the output, no...

Actually a Tapped Horn would be bigger than a sealed enclosure, here is one of my first TH tests. The sound is very different than the sound coming form a Sealed encolsure. My first impression was that the bass was gone! There was no bass sensati...
|
Skushino, I found the same thing, TH can only go so high before they start sounding :funny, of course due to the principle involved, if you want to raise the response further from the design the same Tapped Horn begins to work against itself. So one...

There are a few at least theoretical backdraws for the Array in my view.Of course having a lot of different drivers playing at the same frequency implies that all of them should work in perfect unison, if one starts lagging a little bit it will mess...

Hi Gera"Has anyone done this and what were the observations of comparing different topologies."I have done just what you propose, I tried the JBL2490 compresion driver with a 3" mouth in a 110 hz horn well made, MDF round tactrix horn, it goes ...

Same happened to me when I first started living with my wife, she would come over lay in the couch besides me and start chatting: It was very soon I let her know this is a ceremony, and she should not talk or make any noise, and if I am listening w...

No system ever resembles live music. imho. But you can get pretty close. Can you describe or share a pic of the horrid horns systems you have listened to?I also hate most badly designed "horn" systems too.Usually most "Horn" systems have a 15" woofe...

I think using the Ale woofers would be pretty awsome, do you have the space to fit in 2 separate 2.5 meter long horns?http://twogoodears.blogspot.mx/2013/06/digital-skyrocketing.htmlDo a search in Stephano´s wonderful site, there is a nice descrpti...

Charlus,As you expressed here this would be an End of life speaker project, and I am sure you will not fancy any other speaker once you start with this, even Vox Olympian etc. Yes it will take a lot of money and a lot of time, but you will have fun...

I would start with the freq from 60 hz to 10 khz. If you already decided to use the Vitavox S2 and AK-151 get those and start using them in that range, it will take a long time to get them perfectly settled. Will you use the AK-151 inside a b...

I always enjoyed wine, but had no real taste or knowledge and didnt want to know much, I dont need an extra expense, Audio takes most of my budget already! But it happened, most of my friends are a lot into wine, so after a lot of dinners with ...

I have played around with foil for some time and always loved the sound of it. It seems how thin the foil is helps to get a better body of the sound. The sound is better "time aligned" supposedly and it really sounds like it. I tried WBT conn...

From the Vitavox site: http://www.vitavoxhifi.co.uk/products.php?page=pressure_units"With the coil wound directly onto the dome there is direct drive - no intervening adhesive joint - and damping of eddy currents. The surround is formed from polyeste...
